Pentagon in Apple
 1. It is sometimes claimed that the Catholic Church banned the depiction of the pentagon, because the figure, when turned upside down, resembles the symbol associated with Satanists.
1.1 When an apple is cut open, the seed chamber forms a flower‑shaped pentagon. Around this pentagon appears a ring whose radius is a multiple of five times two, and the ratio between the rings corresponds to the golden section (1.618).
1.2 Detecting the points can be difficult in some apples. The pentagon and the outer ring have been marked in the image with a green marker. This type of cross‑section also appears in other fruits and cultivated plants.
