Lifting Eyes to Vessels
Vessel structure lifting hooks play an important role during installation and manufacturing. The lifting eye must carry the full weight of the tank, which creates bending loads across the hook. This is especially important when a container is lifted vertically from a horizontal position into an upright standing position.
Lifting eyes can be welded directly onto the top frame of the vessel without a reinforcement plate, as shown in the picture. Larger vessels, however, typically require a reinforcement plate to distribute the forces over a wider area and prevent local deformation.
