Avebury Stone Circle
Avebury kivikehä
Most well-known stone circle, is located 32 km south of Stonehenge. Stone circle has 98 upright stones, forming a circle, 335 m in diameter. These are surrounded by circular-shaped bank with an internal ditch surrounding a central flat area. The timing of radiocarbon dates this construction approximately 3 400 - 2 625 years before the Common Era.
The structure is mentioned older than Stonehenge, but is much more controversial.
These both constructions have been dated less the same time, depending on the source of information. The actual diameter of the rim is 421 m in diameter, 11 m wide and 21 m deep.
Some of the rocks over thousands of years have reached a slope. When repairing the stones, part of them was found to be 3 m below the ground-reaching. The weight of the stones showed up to 100 000 kg. It is interesting to note the discussion of Egypt 2500 kg weighty stones, and the difficulty to lift them. The stones weigh up to 40 times more, than the pyramids stones. However, the pyramid have in the openings rocks, with a weight of 60 000 kg. If hundreds of years before the construction of the pyramids, people were able to handle heavier stones, there were no problem to lift stones in Egypt. Writing topic is not the stones weight, but to see the construction of the high degree of accuracy at the time the construction of the pyramids. Writing of the time does not stop there, because I continue at the appropriate time.
