The World Biggest Crane 2012
The world's biggest crane is the Taisun Crane, located in Yantai, Shandong Province, China. This gantry crane has an incredible lifting capacity of 20,000 tons and stands at a height of 133 meters (436 feet) with a span of 120 meters (394 feet). It holds the Guinness World Record for lifting the heaviest weight by a crane.

20,000 metric tons is equivalent to 20 million kilograms (1 tonne is 1,000 kilograms).

“To handle larger blocks, 15,000-16,000 t, we can split the semi-submersible offshore platform into two parts: the lower pontoon pillars and the upper deck box,” as Brian Chang, owner of Yantai Raffles shipyards, explained.
