Atlantis is a legendary island described by Plato in ancient Greece.

According to the story, it was a wealthy and powerful civilisation. Its inhabitants built magnificent cities, harbours, and temples. The island was said to lie beyond the Pillars of Heracles. Atlantis prospered through trade, culture, and advanced engineering. Over time, however, its rulers became proud and morally corrupt. The gods punished Atlantis for its arrogance and greed. In a single day and night, the island is said to have sunk beneath the depths of the sea.
