Log driver in rapids
Log driving through the rapids was demanding work that required strength, balance and courage.
The men guided floating timber along the rushing river, steering the logs away from rocks and dangerous currents. Standing on moving trunks, they used long pike poles to keep the flow moving smoothly. The water thundered around them as they worked in all weather conditions. Every bend in the river brought new challenges and risks. Despite the hardships, log driving was an essential part of the timber industry for many years.
