Serapeum

Serapeum is the name that is given to every temple, or other religious structure, dedicated to Syncretic Hellenistic-Egyptian god who combined elements of ancient Egyptian gods Osiris and Apis in a humanized form compatible with the culture of Ptolemaic Alexandria .

There were numerous centers of this cult each of which said, in greek (Serapeion) or Serapeum in the Latinized form.

The most famous temple of Serapis in Alexandria was built during the reign of Ptolemy III (who reigned from 246 BC to 222 BC)
